I think you would need to figure out what clicking in the dialog does

I think it changes some preference that has a table in it

But yes it is in the framework

I would start reading the code in add-color-scheme-preferences-panel

It may be that there isn’t really an exported way

in which case, the right move is to add one, not to munge the preferences directly
