IRC channel*

k, cool.

BTW, @samth I’m curious why we chose to go with a duel Apache and X11/MIT license?

(Not complaining, it just seems very bizarre to me.)

@leif Did you read what I said about that in the email?

Yes, although looking at it again, I missed that the rust project also does it.

Now I’m curious why the rust project does it, but that’s a thing I’ll have to ask them.

(Like, mostly just curious what you want out of X11/MIT that apache doesn’t have, unless its just a more simple license agreement.)

Okay @samth , next silly question. The context is: why are we holding off on changing the license on the C code? (Yes I read the email), actual question: Are the LGPL libraries we are linking to done via static links?

(If so that would explain why we are holding off on the licensing the C code, otherwise it seems odd to me.)

They aren’t really libraries in that sense — the code is directly incorporated into racket

GNU lightning in particular is heavily modified in-tree.

as is GMP

AH…okay

Ya, if we’ve linked them in that tightly that totally makes sense.

Thanks.

I guess that is just more motivation to get the runtime done in racket.

Anyway, thanks.

Does anyone know if a class that implements stream<%>
can be converted to a class that uses the same interface as editor-stream-in%
?

Like, the docs for stream<%>
even reference the exact same methods for editor-stream-in%
…

Is there an IRS recognized body that has ownership rights to Racket? As an example, the Python language has the Python Software Foundation. Does such a thing exist for Racket?

Ah. It seems there is PLT Design Inc.

But, perhaps it’s not a registered Non-Profit?

(I’m trying to figure out how I can use work time to contribute to racket as part of my companies volunteer time off program)
