Adding lines and conics (as mathematical objects - not curves) to MetaPict.

@soegaard2 I don’t recognize what it is…. what is it?

An ellipse. The points on the ellipse are the two foci, the vertices on both the major and minor axis. The two lines are the directrices.

Forgot to name the point P on the ellipse (30 degrees from the x-axis). The lines shows that the distance from P to the directrix times the eccentricity 0.5 is the distance from P to the focus.

Ah, I see. I didn’t know that ellipse has directrices too. Was only aware that the sum of focus-1
to p
+ focus-2
to p
must stay constant.

That is the most important property. I can’t remember actually needing directrices for anything.

Speaking of this, I wonder how 3Blue1Brown generates those cool animations. Would LOP help making things easier?
