‘7GUI’ [Repo of the week] https://github.com/mfelleisen/7GUI > A Racket Implementation of *<https://eugenkiss.github.io/7guis/|7 GUIs>* > The purpose of this repository is to use the “seven GUI challenge” to illustrate basic GUI programming in Racket and, more importantly, explore program transformations such as the injection of types, macros, or both. https://github.com/mfelleisen/7GUI

Really need to get this added to 7GUIs: A GUI Programming Benchmark https://eugenkiss.github.io/7guis/

Reminds me of my first steps in coding. I was copying qbasic listings found in magazines without knowing a think about what I was doing. I remember feeling very proud about fixing a bug in one listing (the Gorillas game I think)—probably by merely copying a similar-looking block of code somewhere else.

FWIW - The second edition is here: http://datassette.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/livros/basic_basic.pdf

This isn’t actually mine - my wife kept it from highschool in the 80’s.

Sounds like your wife is pretty cool :+1::skin-tone–2:
Of course, Dijkstra might disagree: > It is practically impossible to teach good programming to students that have had a prior exposure to https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/BASIC\|BASIC: as potential programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of regeneration. (from https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Edsger_W._Dijkstra)

@laurent.orseau These days we call that ‘somewhere else’ StackOverflow :sweat_smile:

> Sounds like your wife is pretty cool :+1::skin-tone–2: She is! :grinning: - but chose medicine instead.

That’s also a great choice :+1::skin-tone–2:
