Anyone participating in Racketfest: how do you upload the video? What resolution & quality of the video do you have?

I uploaded to Dropbox via https://www.dropbox.com/transfer

I used 3840x2160. I only have slides (no actual video), so the size wasn’t that big.

Jesse then uploads to YouTube, and they convert to the usual YouTube formats.

@jesse697 ^

Well, I mean, with the default option, my video’s file size would be 2.4GB. I can upload it to Dropbox, but will it cause inconvenience to Jesse?

sorawee

At 720p and medium quality, the file size decreases to 1GB

sorawee
2021-3-24 18:30:16

Perhaps this is better?

jesse697
2021-3-24 18:30:24

could you upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive or WeTransfer or something like that, then send me a link

jesse697

giant file is ok

sorawee

OK, thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

laurent.orseau

My 10min video is 25MB

laurent.orseau
2021-3-24 18:44:54

How do you get to 2.4GB?

soegaard2
2021-3-24 18:47:34

@laurent.orseau 25MB. 1 fps? :wink:

jesse697

We can try doing a jumbo upload, but if you can easily get it under 1 GB, that would be good. Sounds like you recorded MaxHD:tm: somehow

jesse697

with some smart encoding I bet you could get a presentation video to a small size. It’s basically just audio!

sorawee
2021-3-24 18:52:20

The estimation by iMovie is really bad, apparently, The actual file size is 900MB

jesse697
2021-3-24 18:52:39

works for me!

laurent.orseau
2021-3-24 19:01:51

@soegaard2 what’s wrong with that? :yum:

laurent.orseau
2021-3-24 19:14:41

soegaard2
2021-3-24 19:18:20

194MB ~ 10 min

My video is a recording of a relatively constant screen, I guess that’s why it’s so compressible. If sorawee filmed himself running on the street, that could explain the large file size  @soegaard2 A recording of slides in 3840x2160 at 30fps seems just very slightly overkill to me

soegaard2
2021-3-24 19:31:49

True. My first export looked very blurry. Which was very annoying, since my video is on vector graphics. So I decided to up the resolution.

soegaard2
2021-3-24 19:32:30

Turns out I had mistyped the width the first time, so the blurriness was due to stretching.

laurent.orseau
2021-3-24 19:32:47

Makes more sense

soegaard2
2021-3-24 19:33:36

However - in 5–10 years, we probably have 8k screens

soegaard2
2021-3-24 19:33:52

We need to stay relevant!

laurent.orseau
2021-3-24 19:34:11

and maybe vector videos? (that must already exist, right?)

soegaard2
2021-3-24 19:34:44

Do you mean, like a Vectrex ?

laurent.orseau
2021-3-24 19:40:27

That said, all 3 of us shared a picture that contains only text. We’re not really heading in the right direction :stuck_out_tongue: (I did try to copy/paste though, but it wouldn’t let me copy…)
