Exactly. The book description doesn’t even mention cryptocurrencies, so it seems to be about blockchains in more general terms. About uses of blockchains, think of a Git repository, which uses hashes over previous contents to record the commit history. (Though I don’t know if there are specific criteria for the term “blockchain” that would prevent a Git revision history from qualifying as a blockchain.)
