Brilliant idea!

A little context: The C64 sends high level commands over the disc drive (the 1541). Inside the disc drive sits a 6502 CPU (the same one as inside the C64) and interprets the commands. It’s possible to send programs from the C64 to the ram inside the disc drive and let the the disc drive run the uploaded program. This was used to make fast loaders - and copy protections.

Normally one can’t get video output from the disc drive, which is why the video shows to make an ad hoc video cable.
