I remember the original BYTE magazine issue with the Smalltalk cover, I think it was in 1980. I was a 20 year-old college student. My professor had us implement the cons cell in Macro–11, and then we wrote the rest of a Lisp interpreter in Lisp. Those were the days. Also worked a lot in Smalltalk in the early 1990s. Alan Kay came by to give us advice.
