Actually (can’t remember if it was an article or a tweet thread) most places that need COBOL programmers aren’t actually willing to pay enough that developers would be willing to switch to being COBOL developers.

I found out the receptionist at my dentist used to be a cobol programmer. Didn’t seem interested in going back to programming cobol.
