Wordle as a literal keep-alive signal!

You forgot to re-tick “hard mode”?

I did, but I think my play conforms to the hard mode anyway, no?

I don’t have enough information to confirm :slightly_smiling_face: But I’ll trust you on this

Oh, right

It doesn’t have a *

yep

Oh, there’s a license now in the middle of the wordle js file! /*! *****************************************************************************

It’s a little weird that it’s in the middle rather than at the top but I suppose that means we’re free to redistribute the list of words then?

Why MS though?

I thought it would be NYT

Yeah, I was surprised also by this. Possibly MS handles the development of the nyt games and managed to obtain the copyrights

Is that the license of some library used by wordle which is developed by MS?

It’s very unclear actually. This appears to be the only license of the whole file and it only says “this software” without precision.

In the Settings page, you can actually find: © 2022 The New York Times Company

Yeah today took me 5 too

Looks like the NYT has obfuscated the Javascript code for Wordle.

Oops - never mind, I clicked the wrong .js file…

I just have it open in a tab and hit reload everyday

I’m kind of surprised they haven’t actually. I must have a severe deficiency in evaluating business ideas. Paying seven figures for Wordle seems insane.

There’s definitely occasionally an instance where someone ends up spending a boatload of money on acquiring a business, and the rest of the world is stumped as to why they would spend that much. Sometimes it does work out, but probably more often the rest of the world is proven right (sometimes it turns out that the information supplied to the acquirers was probably, er, exaggerated).
