I think the thesis is that in open source the costs outweigh the benefits. But this is a purely economic analysis that doesn’t factor in the pleasure that enthusiasts get from tinkering. Some of us even learn in the process.

I’m happy with the value proposition of Racket.

I donate a little money and a little time and I still think I’ve got more out of Racket than I’ve put in.

I do like raspberry pi os because I don’t want to tinker with it at all.
