Actually, I did recently have a rant, er, somewhere about overly ‘cute’ error messages. Things like “I’ve been a bad boy and must go to my room for a while”, or “Oops, I did something wrong” etc. Such things rather irritate me. They’re worse than just saying “the application crashed due to an unknown error” or something since they’re at least as unhelpful in telling me what went wrong, but also annoyingly anthropomorphise the program.
