Apparently on my third guess I could have played PAWKY (easy mode) which would have given me the correct answer straight away.

Looks like this one is pretty tough for hard mode!

although, honestly, i consider hard mode easier. technically you get less coverage, but with easy mode you can’t solve it as quickly. it’s just a trade-off

hard mode couldn’t be easier, because any hard mode game play is also an easy mode game play.

what makes easy mode easier is how it can deal with the kind of puzzle for today (without requiring luck)

Though to be fair, I bet the optimal play of hard mode could still win the today’s game.

after a word w/ green/yellow letters, the set of possible words is so significantly reduced that limiting the scope of how those are reduced further (via hard mode) I consider mentally an easier challenge.

With easy mode, while the set of possible answer words is still the same, the set you choose from to reduce those words further is greatly increased. It’s mentally more taxing to try and think of the best 2nd word - given the set of possible solutions - for which you get the greatest coverage.

It’s also hard for me (emotionally) to intentionally “throw away” a guess that has no hope of being correct :slightly_smiling_face:

My word choice was:

I intentionally started w/ “heart” because I saw friends’ guesses having difficulty w/ the second letter, so I picked a consonant (h) that often appears as the second letter in words.

@massung in hard mode you could be unlucky and not be able to recover. For example, if the target word is “wound” and your first guess is “found”, you are only allowed to try the following words: pound, round, mound, sound, bound, wound In the worst case you need 7 guesses
