Caring for the Cats
Checklist
Morning
Wet Food.
All cats get one quarter can of corresponding wet food with a handful of
dry food sprinkled on top. Ollie gets 2 handfuls to slow him down (the
others just feel left out). Sometimes Lilly likes a little adult food with
her kitten food.
Kelsey and Lilly sometimes wonder; they’ll usually eat more if you bring
their food to their new spot.
Ollie will try to steal from the others; if they are mostly finished, it’s
OK, but make sure everyone gets their fill first.
Lysine. Both kittens get lysine supplements twice per day. Squeeze
half-inch or so onto one finger (per cat).
Ollie will likely lick it right off your finger. Lilly will probably not.
For kittens that won’t lick it, grab them and smear it on one of their
paws (Lilly prefers front left). Try to spread it out; they can shake off
the clumps.
Dry food. The automatic feeder should be operational, but checking
it has enough never hurts. If there is not much dry food available, filling
the porcelain bowl is a good idea.
Water. There is one bowl upstairs (main bedroom) and one downstairs
(near back door). Best to refill while unplugged with cold water.
Evening
Same as morning
Treat. Kelsey receives one Greenie from the glass jar.
Every other day
Litter. If you prefer more frequently, that’s fine, too.
The three boxes are located in the game room (in a coffee table-like box),
in the main bathroom, and in the upstairs guest bathroom.
Implements (scoop, paper or plastic bag, supplemental litter) are located
in the closet at the top of the stairs.
Miscellany
You’ll have our contact information and details about the security apparatus.
Call if you have any questions or concerns.
Frequently hisses, but not usually aggressive unless cornered. A gentle
approach with respect for his boundaries is best. Sweet guy once he
approves of you.
Occasionally has a fat lip or some diarrhea. Nothing to be concerned about
unless his lip is very large, the diarrhea is frequent, or he isn’t
eating.
Playful and snuggly little kitten. Can be held if he’s calm, but not when
playing. Does not know “soft paw.”
Has a complex lung condition that affects his breathing. A little
increased effort/rate is normal for him, but there’s a cat inhaler
available in case of emergencies.
Lilly (“Lilly bean,” “Lilly pop,” “little sister,” “baby girl”). Mostly
white calico with tabby stripes; female.
Playful and easy to hold little kitten. Seriously, you can probably just
grab her.
In memoriam
Millie (“bean burrito,” “princess”). Mostly dark calico with orange and
white splotches; female.
Departed this life at the end of 2025 and now takes care of us.
